Doug Bacon

As a leader committed to sustained business growth, Doug Bacon is dedicated to building capacity for success within companies and organizations. A Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, he is the trusted advisor to the CEO and other top-level executives, helping them transform their culture and take ownership of the process.

Doug begins his work with chief executives and their executive teams to raise awareness around a grounding principle: when leadership starts thinking about how you can affect people, the organization starts being successful.

Through a client-centric approach, Doug brings the distinct ability to translate vision and ideas into action, leveraging the development of the client’s top assets: their executives and teams. The Throwing Words way to every client engagement is born from Doug’s belief that when an organization intentionally creates a culture where people have the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute their unique value, they are more engaged, more productive, more loyal … and this includes Millennials. Doug has cracked the code on Millennial high-engagement – it turns out they, too, want to learn, grow and contribute in their work.

Prior to launching Throwing Words, Doug spent over 20 years inside companies helping teams and organizations reach their potential. The private and community-based organizations he worked for included The Lee Institute, UNC Charlotte and the Charlotte Chamber in Charlotte, North Carolina; MPACT Memphis, The Blues Foundation and Arts in the Park in Memphis, Tennessee; and the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce in Greenville, Mississippi.

Doug earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in music (primary instrument: flute) from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. He and his wife Julie have two sons, Phelps and Mac, and live in Charlotte, North Carolina.
